Stretch wrapping equipment, such as a pallet wrapping machine or stretch wrapper machine, is a versatile packaging solution used to secure and protect palletised loads for transportation or storage. Commonly applied in pallet wrapping, stretch wrapping provides load stability, prevents shifting, and safeguards goods against damage during handling and transit.
After placing unitised loads on pallets or slip sheets, the next critical step is securing them for safe and efficient transportation in Singapore. Stretch wrapping and pallet wrapping provide superior load stability, reduce product damage, and ensure smooth handling during storage and shipment, making them among the most cost-effective load unitisation solutions. Sunstream proudly represents Lantech, the pioneer of stretch wrapping technology and a global leader in pallet wrapping and load unitisation, delivering solutions that are easy to use, cost-efficient, and versatile for a wide range of industrial and distribution applications
Stretch wrapping ensures minimal movement of loads and maximum safety during transportation. Although there are many other methods of load unitization, this wrapping approach increases the odds that your loads arrive safely, securely, and without damage.
Lantech has developed criteria to define an effectively wrapped pallet load. A safe-to-ship load must be:
1. Wrapped with sufficient and appropriate containment force throughout the load. Containment force is the product of the stretch film tension and the number of film layers.
2. Locked to the pallet with a stretch film cable. This is done by rolling the film into a tight cable and placing that cable below the pallet’s deck boards.
3. Have no film tails which create safety hazards that can cause loads to partially unwrap.
Stretch wrapping tightly secures items together, creating a stable unit load. This prevents shifting, toppling, or sliding during transportation or storage. With a protective barrier, stretch wrapping shields the goods from moisture, dust, and other environmental factors.
Stretch wrapping is a cost-effective packaging method compared to alternative options like strapping or shrink wrapping. The stretch film itself is relatively inexpensive, and the equipment required is generally affordable.
Stretch wrapping equipment automates the packaging process, saving time and labour compared to manual methods. With the ability to wrap multiple loads quickly and consistently, productivity is enhanced. Additionally, stretch-wrapping machines often feature programmable settings, allowing customization for different load sizes, shapes, and film tension requirements.
Whether it is pallet wrapping or stretch wrapping, stretch film is used for easy visual inspection of the wrapped goods. This visibility is crucial for inventory management, quality control, and scanning barcodes or labels without the need for unwrapping. The film’s ability to hold items tightly together also facilitates safer and more efficient material-handling operations.
Semi-automatic stretch wrapping machines are designed for operations handling moderate volumes. They require an operator to place the load and start the wrapping cycle, making them suitable for businesses that want to improve load security without fully automating the process. Explore our comprehensive range of equipment on our Home page.
Automatic stretch wrapping machines handle the entire wrapping cycle with minimal operator input. They are ideal for high-volume operations where efficiency, speed, and consistency are critical. Automatic models help streamline packaging lines and reduce labour costs. Learn more in our Company Profile about our track record in automation and material handling solutions.

Stretch wrapping and pallet wrapping generally refer to the same process of securing loads with stretch film. The term “stretch wrapping” refers to the use of a machine to apply film under tension for load stability, whereas “pallet wrapping” is a broader term used in many industries.
